OPENFACE LAUNCHES THE EXCENDIA SAFE MOBILITY SERVICES

The new services provide hands-free voice dialing and access to e-mails and appointments for people who use their smartphones while driving.

Montreal, June 9th, 2011. Openface Internet Inc. announces the release of its new speech-enabled telephony services based on the Excendia Virtual Assistant technology. Openface customers can now stay compliant with safety laws when they use their smartphones such as Blackberry or iPhone to check e-mails and call people while driving. The new service enables business people to turn their drive time into productive time with a safe, hands-free speech link to their office email and phone systems. They simply speak to call contacts and colleagues, listen to emails or change their call forwarding or phone status. They can also check their appointments and schedule new meetings in their Microsoft or Google calendars using voice commands. For companies, a bilingual speech attendant enables outside callers to reach the person or service they want simply by saying their name, therefore reducing the risks of dialing extensions while driving. Internally, employees use speech to call colleagues and contacts by name or dial phone numbers.

“We are excited to offer the Excendia speech-enabled virtual assistant suite as part of our hosted VoIP services. Our new value proposition is unique since it combines safe mobility, smart telephony and business productivity in one easy-to-use telephony package. Our customers will no longer need to remember people’s phone numbers because they can simply say the name of the person they want to reach. Innovating with applications such as Excendia is part of our mission to continuously provide Canadian businesses with high value services” said Tan Soamboonsrup, CEO of Openface Inc.

"Excendia complements and adds value to Openface’s VoIP and hosted PBX services. It translates the openness of IP Telephony and speech technologies into real benefits for customers. It acts as a voice bridge between the users and their office messaging and telephone systems.” noted Bachir Halimi, President of Excendia Inc. “We use business data to make the phone intelligent and use speech over the phone to make business data safely accessible on the road. This translates into safer mobility and increased productivity for companies and individuals. In essence, Excendia turns any phone into a virtual office with a 24/7 personal assistant."

The Visually Impaired Also Benefit

The Excendia services are also ideal for visually impaired and dyslexic people who have difficulty reading and writing on their mobile phones. Mr. Pierre Arsenault, a member of the Montreal Association for the Blind (MAB) says “The Excendia Virtual Assistant gives me a sense of independence and security because I am able to quickly and easily access my messages and contacts from my cell phone wherever I am. I can stay connected with my business and personal contacts to call them and exchange emails with them using simple voice commands over the phone”. Another visually impaired businessman using the Excendia service is Mr. John Doyle, Director of International operations at the Delta National University of New Orleans. He says “Being able to manage my communications and get access to my information using speech makes my life easier and allows me to be more responsive to my customers and colleagues.”
